  • the forums are now open, YAY! Thanks to Jon S.
  • added online voicemail link on a trial-basis. See our contact info to try it out.

7/12/2006

  • Added Merch page
  • placebo.org –> forums and stuff, coming soon

4/22/2006

  • Added a form to the booking page for bands to fill out. Because of the way WP [doesn’t] handle forms, it’s a template and can’t be edited via the write/manage interface. Filled out forms get emailed to our booking people.

4/21/2006

  • URLs have changed slightly so put a mod_rewrite entry in to redirect people who have the old ones bookmarked
  • Added a favico, just for the heck of it: placebo favicon

4/20/2006

  • Finally defeated the mysterious PHP-CGI gremlins and got the site restored. Thanks to kchrist

3/26/2006

  • Added LiveJournal Crossposter plugin so entries are automatically posted to our livejournal.

2/28/2006

  • Event calendar fix now seems to be working well; events are currently set to appear as a post on the main page one day before scheduled to start
  • RSS feeds now have individual relevant titles instead of just being labeled “The Placebo”
  • You can now use a horizontal rule in posts, if you want. See?

2/26/2006

  • Events now appear on the main page 24 hours before they’re due to start; Courtesy J.Rock’s coding efforts. Oops. Not quite ready to go live…

2/23/2006

  • Forgot to mention yesterday that the event calendar is on GMT which results in events showing up in the blog late in the day of, rather than when local time hits midnight. It’s something I’ll try to address when looking at the formatting issues mentioned below.
  • The formatting error was caused by some wonky HTML in one of the posts ? there were a bunch of div tags added, perhaps by an external editor? It’s fixed now.
  • Despite what the documentation says, the event calendar is on server time (not GMT, per se) which makes a lot more sense. Our server is set to PST. And I’ve fixed the error in the plug-in that made it seem differently. Still have some work to do as events now show up the moment they’re scheduled to start - a bit late to be of much use.
  • Added RSS feed for the Calendar so there’s a way to get notice of events the day they’re posted rather than, or as well as, on the day they happen.

2/22/2006

  • Installed “Post Restrictions” plugin so boring in-house posts (”who’s gonna bring the amp?”, etc.) can be made to show up for logged in board members only
  • Became aware of some strange formatting issues especially with Archives -> By Subject -> Calendar. I’ll have to meddle with the event_calendar plugin code to fix it.

2/21/2006

  • Added Archives page where old entries can be found by month/year or by subject
  • Changed Upcoming Events date to include day of the week, also formatted it so date will only show once with multiple events under it, rather than repeating for each event.

2/20/2006

  • Added “Booking” page - though it’s definitely incomplete
  • Changed some of the terms in the sidebar to, hopefully, make site navigation easier
  • Removed “Archives” links from sidebar. Since the site is so new they’re currently not necessary and just add clutter. I’m investigating plugins to make a separate customizable archives page.
  • Added “Media” “Press” page and links to some articles from the North Coast Journal, the Arcata Eye, Panache Magazine, and the Lumberjack. (Changed name of page so it wouldn’t be confused with “multimedia”.)
  • Added “Past Events” page and threw up a few relevant media files

2/19/2006

  • Upgraded to Wordpress 2.0.1
  • Installed live preview plugin for comments (lets you see how your comment will look, before you post)
  • Installed event calendar software so upcoming events are easily seen and users can subscribe to the Placebo calendar [VCS file for iCal, Sunbird or other calendar software]

1/17/06

  • Added flickr badge for The Placebo’s photos to bottom of all pages; css centering works fine in Firefox and IE, is wonky in Safari, and don’t yet know about Opera.
  • Installed Akismet spam protection and database backup plugins
  • Put in an Events page (which should eventually turn into an events plugin with info on the main page of the site)

    Site is up and running!
