Art Hangs are Happening again

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

E2 and the Placebo get to stay open for the low-key events, so The Placebo is back to hosting the weekly Art Hang. Every Friday, people, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Except the Fridays before Arts Alive when E2 folks’ll be hanging art! Show up anytime and do your thing: knitting (of course), music, art, reading, talking . . . it’s up to you. Speaking of which, we’re looking for Art Hang projects: stuff that can be mostly done in one sitting so people have something to take home. If you have an idea, let us know!

When: Friday, January 26th, 4pm to 8 pm. Show up anytime.
Where: The Placebo, 47B West 3rd St, between A and Commercial. (Access is via the alley between 3rd and 4th)
Cost: FREE. Bring yer own supplies, though.

The Jonbenet @ Out of the Sun, Fortuna

Monday, January 15th, 2007

We were totally afraid we’d have to cancel this show, but Out of the Sun came through for us. Yep that does mean the show is in Fortuna - but it’s better than not having it at all, yeah? Catch a ride with a friend or co-worker. Take people with you if you have room in your car.

And if this bums you out, help us get our space back: sign our petition (they’ll be available at every show we have), write a letter in support to the Eureka City Council, or show up at our next meeting.

Now, on to the show: METAL and HARDCORE

When: 7 pm sharp, Monday Jan. 15th (MLK Day) This is an early show that has to be over by 10 pm!

THANK YOU TINA and OUT OF THE SUN!

First Meeting of The Placebo Harm Reduction Collective

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

The Placebo Harm Reduction Collective focuses on reducing the harm done by drugs, alcohol, depression, and anxiety. The goal is to help on the path to sobriety and freedom from anxiety and depression without dictating how exactly you have to achieve this. This group is intended as an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous and does not participate in the 12 steps or a higher power (god) but does recognize & respect AA as an effective treatment for the people that it works for. The HRC is a sub group of The Placebo. Meetings are open to all ages, and are created for Humboldt County’s diverse music, art, film, and literature scene. Contact us for info and/or volunteer work: hrc at theplacebo.org

When: Tuesday, January 2 from 5pm to 7 pm
Where: in the community kitchen of the Eureka Co-op, 4th and B
Cost: Free, but you do need to have a Placebo membership ($2)
