PROM ROCKED! I loved seeing all the radical activist groups there tabling (punk is more than fashion). All the bands that played were so fun and inspiring - and there were so many awesome people there dancing and moshing. I also love that punk prom is queer friendly because high schools still aren't safe places to be out.

Thank you DAO, & JOHN & Placebo for putting together an awesome punk prom.

Love Julie ~ the retired scene lady

Killer Poster and killer theme for the prom. I am going to have to find a space age robotic dress for this one. I'm thinking queen Elizabeth meets Robbie the Robot.

Jasmine has done it again - I was curious about this book and her review made me want to read it. This review was informative and insightful, well written and organized. It gave an impression of the typer of person the review is - someone who wants to follow the road less traveled and has a commitment to the DIY ethic.

( Jasmine is also one of my favorite people in Humboldt County but don't mind me I'm biased towards my Placebo DIY family)

To get a membership, you just have to show up with an extra 2 bucks at the door. Once you sign and date the membership card that we give you in return, you're good for a year. Just bring your card with you to all our shows.

Sorry guys. We just try to make something up from whatever people have on their webpages/myspaces. Unless a band tells us in advance what they'd like to be described as, it may be wildly inaccurate or missing the point. (And sometimes, we're just really trying to engage the local crowd who may have no idea who/what a particular act is about, but who will come out for a punk show, or for the opportunity to see someone they identify with.)

us ghoulz of The Floating Corpses had a blast playing Placebo, and look forward to playing again; although we must point out our slight annoyance at the description given our band here at the Placebo site. We may be experimental, we may be transgendered, we definately perform hard, and we are a part of the larger punk family, but to label us thus seems silly, and missing the point of what we do, which is not based on identity politics, nor only on experimentation. We feel that we are combining poisoned pop rock n roll songwriting with synth punk noise atmospheric assault, or to sum up a description we find more accurate: synth-punk sewer-rock noise-cabaret.

I heard Steeltoed Slipper's CD. They are excellent. My kids really enjoy them, too. (In the interest of full disclosure, I know the singer but I'm not letting that prejudice me;>)

This discussion group is doesn't happen any more

The North coast I.W.W does meet the first Thursday of every month at the labor temple at 6:30pm

so if you want to get involved in organizing in the workplace and in the community to improve conditions and get a say
or
start some thing up like a discussion group focusing on social issues in that same vein, local Wobblies are all ears.

our number is 725-8090

show up , call us up
